Crest Whitestrips

Thursday, March 29th, 2012

We often have patients ask us about Crest Whitestrips. Though they are much weaker than professional teeth whitening, they will whiten your teeth a little. You’ll probably have to buy many kits to get them the level of whiteness many patients desire. That being said, a post on mynewsmile.com has recently come to our attention. Someone that was using Crest Whitestrips had a tooth become so sensitive that they had to have a root canal. What I want to emphasize with this is not that there is any danger using Crest Whitestrips, but that it is important to do any whitening under the supervision of a dentist in order to prevent injury.

Two teeth are darker

Wednesday, March 28th, 2012

I have two teeth that are darker than my others after I whitened them. One has a crown on it and the other is completely fake. No matter how many times I whiten my teeth, these two don’t whiten. What can I do?

Debbie,

When it comes to teeth whitening there are two things to always keep in mind. First, it will whiten your teeth uniformly. If your teeth are unevenly colored, they will whiten that way too. Secondly, no dental work, such as veneers, crowns, fake teeth, etc. will whiten. In your case, you will need to have your crown and fake tooth replaced and made to the level of whiteness you want the rest of your teeth.
