Boca Raton Lumineers

First, let us explain that Lumineers® is a brand name of porcelain veneers.

We do not use that particular brand of porcelain in our office. Instead, we have our own master ceramist that we use to create new smiles for our patients. But if you would like that particular brand, we can do that for you.

The Chief Advantage of Lumineers

Lumineers are an ultra-thin veneer. Porcelain veneers are pretty thin to start with—only 0.5 mm thick. That's about the thickness of a fingernail, or two-one-hundredths of an inch. Ultra-thin veneers are slightly thinner—about 0.3 mm.

This makes them particularly useful for patients who want a new smile but no alteration to their own teeth. And where possible, Dr. Kagan definitely prefers not to alter your existing teeth. (For more information about his ultraconservative dentistry philosophy, please see our Boca Raton dentist home page.)

However, you need to be aware that if we use a no-preparation technique on you for your new smile, your teeth will end up looking and feeling a little bulky, and they will have to be about two millimeters longer than natural. If that doesn't appeal to you, Dr. Kagan will talk to you about another option, and that is ultra-conservative tooth preparation, where your teeth are shaved so slightly it is barely noticeable. Either way, our aim is to fully discuss what we are doing and why, make sure you approve, and then deliver a new smile to you that completely meets your expectations—one that you are proud to show others.
