"As I attend continuing education courses around the country, I learn about the great advances in dentistry. The new dental materials I am now learning about are closer than ever to duplicating natural tooth structure. We can mimic real teeth now in appearance and function to an astonishing degree. But nothing artificial is quite as amazing as your own teeth, given to you by Mother Nature. My focus therefore remains on preserving your own natural teeth and tooth structure as is humanly possible.

"I would call myself an ultra-conservative dentist. Yes, dental school trained me to repair your teeth with artificial substances. But as far as I'm concerned, the less I do, the better. No treatment is always the best treatment! Therefore, my highest priority is to avoid treatment with good preventive care. A sealant to prevent a first cavity is better than the smallest of fillings. If that can't be done, a tiny filling performed using air abrasion is better than a larger filling done using a drill. A filling is better than a crown, because a crown requires drilling your tooth down to a stub. Once I remove this precious tooth structure you can never get it back! Then, after so much drilling, the tooth may become so irritated that the nerve will die and will need a root canal. But this is still better than removing your entire tooth. So I study and constantly try to perfect the techniques which allow me to take care of all of your dental needs and problems while making the least possible alteration to your teeth. We always want to do the least invasive treatment that will solve your dental problems. This is the philosophy that motivates me every working day.
